  1. To congratulate you on a great album. I don’t feel it supersedes or matches the zest and scintillation of that ultimately superb first album, but still, beautiful stuff here. Great singing, great writing, great playing and production. Many thanks indeed.

  2. Well John, it took only days and 7 times listening to the CD to see the light…. I was wrong, very wrong, probably in a bad mood and to quick with my judgement. It’s in fact a FANTASTIC album !

  3. It’s good, John and other bandmembers, really, but…. it’s not fantastic, at least not as fantastic as I hoped it would be. There’s something missing. The production is a little bit ‘flat’ (can’t find the correct English word); few real highlights, less dynamics, sometimes it’s what we call ‘lottoballsmusic’. First CD grabbed me by the throat, so to say; this one does not. And there’s a lot of resemblance to the first CD, with respect to melodies and lyrics, too much in my humble opinion. First and last track are really interesting, but I’m not so sure about the in-betweens. Maybe if I have listened a few times more, I will alter my opinion, I’ll promise to write again!

    • No probs Jan …. we are all very happy with it so I hope it will creep up on you in the months and weeks to come πŸ™‚ best regards jy

  4. As expected the new album is fantastic. So much to listen to and as with the first album it grows and grows. Well done and a fabulous labour of love. Very interested to see the guitar parts broken down and as a big fan of Iona and Dave Bainbridge it’s great to see his wonderful contribution to one of my favourite bands. Always loved Dave’s genuius and personal highlight is his work on the Ioan song ‘Encircling’. Looking forward to seeing the band live again, when are you coming to Kent???!!

  5. Hiya The Lifesigns album was definitely my album of 2013!! Its been played and played, and is right up there with my all time favs, which include such as Transatlantic’s The Whirlwind, and Yes relayer to name but two of hundreds!! Got the Under the Bridge release as soon as came out, and really looking forward to receiving Cardington!! Brilliant news about Dave bainbridge!! Love Iona, and have seen Dave solo in Nottingham. Seeing him again next Feb!! Really hope to see you play live sometime soon, will be a real highlight!!
    Thanks for the great sounds!!!!

  6. Hello,

    Kindest regards,

    Wayne

  7. Hi Guys, got the album today. Well worth the wait. I love the sound of the ones I knew, Impossible, Voice in my head and different, the arrangements you have used really sound great. The new tracks also sound fantastic and I know will reveal themselves fully in time. Loves Dave’s guitar sound, wonderfully filling Niko’s large shoes. So good to hear you all again and hope to see you live again really soon. Wish I was on the boat this time, i have great memories of seeing you on a windswept deck in the warm Carribean night! Have a great cruise. All the very best and congratulations. Geoff

  8. your music would mix well with the sonoran desert in Arizona. just a thought. prog and me have been best friends for over 45 plus years and will always fill my soul with it, and all progladites know what it is

    • Cheers Hojo, I love the Sonoran desert …although it can get a little hot… I hope one day we can tour in the US but it is so so difficult these days. best jy

  9. Dear John

Thought I’d do a description of our meetings back in 1986/7. Maybe trigger a memory??

Jon Camp ( one of my favourite bass players) was a client of the vet Practice I joined in Whitchurch and, having met, I started to develop a friendship with him, Carol and their daughter ( Natasha???) I castrated his cat on their kitchen table and some sheep in that steep paddock out the back of his house!!! Not sure if you were there at that point !!!!!
Through him I got introduced to you, Tony and Brett. You were recording the Cathedrale material, as well as doing the ‘Campaign for real music’

We met on a good number of occasions over a six month period. You gave me a cassette containing solo demos including a long track ( can’t remember the name of it but it was a “story I must tell” ) as well as a few shorter tracks
I still play this music as really love it. I also have a tape of you and Jon doing a radio interview on Radio Stoke I think it was.

I came and watched Tony doing his drum part recording in Whitchurch for a video of One by one (still one of my favourite drum tracks) and Brett showed me how he did the guitar part on Calling out across the world – I still use that technique even last week! One by One and trick of the light still send my spirit soaring
I think you actually liked some of my recordings as I played some to you and Tony in Jon’s studio and saw you both giving positive nods to each other. I took that as a compliment!
I fully understand you not remembering me as it was a long time ago. I remember it all well as it was an interesting and exciting time for me and I have the memories in the form of recorded music as well as guitar techniques that I use regularly
Watching the DVD of London made me think how your demos would sound with the full band. You really are a great unit and inspired me greatly. It is such a shame that Nick left. Steven Wilson has nothing on Lifesigns.
One thing I would like to ask is, what happened with Jon and Carol? They were such a nice couple/family and last I heard ( many years ago) is that they weren’t together???)
Anyway, hope this triggers some memories? I think the reason I remember all the details is because it was so out of left field for a veterinary surgeon whereas it was all in a days work for you so, I am not offended if you don’t remember
I cant believe you would have driven past the end of my road on the Gold Coast!
    Best Wishes
    Robert

  10. Hello John,

Are you still looking for a permanent guitarist to replace Nico?
    Kind regards,
    Keith Richard Herman.

  11. hi, FAO Martin Beedle. Hi I am a teacher at Eastfield Primary School and have been reliably informed that you are an ex pupil??? We are creating a wall of fame of past pupils and would like to invite you to be a part of the Eastfield Alumni.
    Please would you accept?

  12. Hi John,
Thanks for the note with my DVD, much appreciated. I see that the support act with Yes’ UK tour has dropped out, you would be an ideal replacement. I saw you in Leicester in December and were awesome! Going to see Yes in May at the Liverpool Phil, I’m sure you know that place? and it would be brilliant if you were there as well. Keep up the good work, can’t wait for the new album. Regards, Paul Clement

    • Cheers Paul… yes we know the Yes management really well but sadly there is no support. Most of the larger older bands don’t bother these days. Shame …would have been a lot of fun πŸ™‚

  13. Hi
Had a great evening tonight! Got the DVD “Under The Bridge” in my mailbox:-) Loved it. Hope to see you live soon. Maybe in Norway? or in an other country..
    Good luck with the tour!
    Arild from Norway

  14. Hi everyone.
Just wondered what time the Trading Boundaries gig starts? Says 12am on the info… is this correct, please?
    cheers.Rob

  15. Hi there – I love your band, but your communication of your gig dates is terrible. I live in Guildford and didn’t realise you played there earlier this month until today. I have been checking Facebook every few weeks, but his date must have passed me by. Gutted.

    You need a street team!!!!

    • Hi Mark…. we had a street team on the Guildford gig. The gig was advertised in local papers, radio and via the Electric Theatre and the ACM. Sadly one link that broke was the facebook.com events page link to our website and as such the gig didn’t show. Will keep an eye on the gig guide to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Best place for gig info is http://www.facebook.com/signslife and go to the Events section which is always up to date. Next gig Trading Boundaries near Uckfield 12th June. If you have a facebook page Mark feel free to get in touch. We spent more money on flyers, posters and advertising on Guildford than we have done anywhere else but sadly it doesn’t always work.

  16. I know its a while back but just wanted to say how much i enjoyed you guys at the Summers end festival 2014- it was my 50th Birthday that night and despite a bad cold and a s**t venue your music raised my spirits no end! Got the lp (vinyl!) the other day and its warm, lush, heartfelt and genuinely uplifting! Looking forward to seeing you live again soon?? any chance of Bristol area? See you at Leamington in December?? All the best, John R.

  17. Hello Chaps! I saw you at the Craufurd Arms in Wolverton for the first time and didn’t really know what to expect. Well, what a treat it was! You sounded great and were really entertaining to watch. I only wish I had taken my camera. Could have got some great shots of you in action. Maybe next time. In the meantime I’ll continue to enjoy your album and look forward to your next one. Keep up the good work. Cheers. Mark

    • thanks Mark… glad you enjoyed it …we had a great time. Feel free to keep in touch on facebook (if you are a member) look forward to heading back there again later in the year πŸ™‚
